Networking and Social Media for Freelancers (BECTU Vision – Glasgow)

Fri 02Dec2022

A full-day course for anyone who runs a mile from networking events, or is nervous about talking about work to people they don't know.

From 10am until 5pm

Venue: TBC, Central Glasgow

Course Description

Networking is the most important way for any freelancer to find new work. This in-person workshop helps take the fear out of networking face to face, and gives you plenty of tips. We look at techniques for arranging meetings with people who might give you work, and how to behave at those inevitable 'networking events'. We also dispel some typical myths about making professional connections: it doesn’t have to be time-consuming and it’s not about a hard sell.

By the end of the workshop, you should be able to:

  • Feel more comfortable about talking to someone about possible work
  • Prepare for meetings in person or online
  • Understand how to curate your professional image online
  • Know how to maintain networking relationships over time

Who should attend: This course is for freelance film & TV practitioners who work in all departments, and at all levels.

This session is being organised by BECTU Vision in Glasgow.
